Malaysia is a tropical Paradise, a land of sunny smiles and warm hospitality, as warm and sunny as the sun that constantly shine in this land of perpetual summer. It is vibrantly alive with the colourful sights and fascinating sounds of its peoples as they go about their daily lives. And it pulsates with the excitement of an endless stream of festivities. There is always something to celebrate in Malaysia.
The climate is characterized by temperatures ranging from 21ºC to 32ºC in the lowlands. This can however be as low as 16 ºC in the highlands. Rain falls throughout the year in quick heavy showers. The total annual rainfall averages around 200cm. The heaviest rainfall can be expected from October to around March when the North East Monsoon brings strong winds and heavy rain to the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia.
The mix of cultural influences in Malaysia is the result of centuries of immigration and trade with the outside world, particularly with Arab nations, China, and India, however each culture remained largely intact; that is, none have truly been homogenized.
There is so much to savour and experience in Malaysia. A golf holiday to the many seaside courses like Kerteh, Miri, or Desaru can be refreshing, with sea breezes blowing across the fairways. Cool hill hotels, resorts, nestling in the foothills of majestic mountains beckon from the faraway distance. In contrast, there is the dense tropical jungle with its thousand shades of green and the multitude of unique flora and fauna. The many races and cultures come together in a wonderful blend of colours, architecture and festivals and an endless variety of foods making the country a veritable gourmet’s paradise.
