With the property market showing an increase for the first time in months people may once again be considering shall i sell my house or just make it better. With many still not sure how the market is going to swing I thought I would look at the centre piece or heart to any house the Kitchen. Whether you have a fitted kitchen a bespoke handmade kitchen or an individually chosen number of kitchen units, the area needs to be the best for you.

It may appear like small things but anything that you feel doesn’t work for you should be jotted down and set aside ready for when you actually do start kitchen planning. A kitchen when set out correctly makes working within it an absolute pleasure rather than having the normal conflicts of not being able to lean somewhere without being in the way. By making sure that a kitchen has spaces within it that people can chill in and at the same time refining the work spaces to work more intuitively can make all the difference to this most central of places.

Fitted kitchens should only be bought if you know that the person selling you that specific style of kitchen knows how a kitchen should work and that some things will work and other things dont. From the cooker itself there should be a really defined working triangle that provides you space to prepare food, a space to cook the food and an area to wash and dispose of the leftovers and preparation cast off’s. Any task that you do is simpler if you have the correct tools to do it with, in this way you can make sure that any tasks you do in the kitchen can either be quick ones or just long extended enjoyable experiences.

For myself with most fitted kitchens I have done any cooking in the main lack I have found with them is that they are frequently really difficult to negotiate around. Making it very difficult to work fluidly and in some instances safely, we have a little boy and you need an area to be safe so that any children aren’t tripped over or stood on or worse have something spilt on them. Design can always make sure that things like this don’t happen with the addition of individual areas you can make sure you have a space that can be purely for eating and an area you can cordon off with a simple gate to ensure you can work safely. I hope this is article is of use my name is David Harland.
