Nowadays, with millions of folks losing their jobs each month, long awaited retirement travel is only a dream. With our financial systems going into the toilet, and the housing crisis exploding around us – these safety nets are becoming more important than ever. Many retired women, especially, are just barely able to make ends meet with the help of Social Security. This is because, although gradually changing, women today are less likely than men to have additional sources of income. Partly due to working less years in the workforce because of child raising responsibilities. And partly because, even while in the work force, women typically are paid less than men.

But even families that don’t necessarily need Social Security to survive are helped by it. In fact, according to independent studies, if the government were suddenly to get rid of Social Security, many retired families would experience a drop in their living standards of 70% or more.

Quite a few people are concerned that the system will not be able to support itself. In fact, there have been circumstances in the past when the amount of dollars paid to recipients surpassed the dollar amount collected through FICA. In these cases, Trust bonds were sold to make up the deficit. Because of circumstances like these, Congress has occasionally increased the percentage of gross income that FICA can collect from salaries. Even these adjustments, however, as the population ages and simultaneously live longer, may not be enough to sustain the system without drastic changes to the system.

The Social Security program is the largest government program of the country – constituting over twenty percent of the federal budget. As some politicians look at cutting the size and expenses of government, this program has an inviting target on its back. To many people, however, the cost of losing this critical system could ultimately be much more than the cost of running budget deficits.

( sometimes called internet site hosting, website and Webhosting ), is the business of housing, serving, and maintaining files for one or More significant sites. More significant than the computer space that is provided for Web site files is the fast connection to the Internet. Most hosting services offer connections on T-carrier system lines. Typically, an individual business hosting its own site would require a like connection and it might be pricey. Employing a website hosting service lets many companies share the cost of a fast Net connection for serving files.

A number of Net access providers, such as America Online, offer customers free space for a small site site that is hosted by one of their computers. Geocities is a Web site site that offers registered visitors similar free space for a Web site. Whilst these services are free, they are extraordinarily basic.

A number of web hosting corporations describe their services as virtual hosting. Virtual hosting usually implies that their services will be transparent and that each internet site will have its own domain name and set of email addresses. In most usages, hosting and virtual hosting are synonyms. Some hosting corporations let you have your own virtual server, the appearance that you are controlling a server that is dedicated entirely to your site.

Dedicated hosting is the provision of a dedicated server machine that is dedicated to the traffic to your Web site. Only very busy sites need dedicated hosting. Many companies purchase their own servers and place them on a site that provides fast access to the Net. This practice is called colocation.
