Everyone wants to redecorate their home but the biggest hurdle is always where to start. What room do you start with? What colors to work with. Do you go for a basic makeover or a total overhaul of the room? What catches most people out is that they simply don’t have enough house decorating ideas to use to spark off their own creative juices. Once you get the ball rolling the whole decorating process is pretty straightforward and you’ll have plenty of ideas to use.
The initial step is looking at what room you’ll decorate first. Each room is just a little different in the decorating approach and of course the furniture and accessories you’re going to use after the painting is done. Decorating a kitchen is very different to decorating a bedroom for example.
Next you’re going to have to look at a color scheme or theme for whichever room you want to decorate. Once you know what basic colors you want to use then you’ll be making the choice between the type of paint or wallpaper you’re going to use. Wallpaper was once a total no-no for any interior decorating project but it’s start to make a comeback. If you’re not ready to commit fully to a 100% wallpaper finish then you could go 50/50 on it – some people just paper one or two walls in each room.
Once you’ve chosen a color scheme you’re happy with you can look at what furniture and accessories you’re going to put in the room. This is where having a theme for your room is pretty much essential. The theme will guide your color choices and how the room should look when the decorating is done. You could choose from a rustic theme, Italian theme, Asian decorating or even a tropical decoratingm theme. Do some online searching – you’ll find plenty of home decorating tips and ideas to get you started on your journey to an improved and comfier home.
