Featuring an art-deco style, the Hall of Fame was originally founded in 1978 with the express purpose of honoring the long tradition of Jazz within the state of Alabama. A museum honoring all of the greats of Jazz with ties to the state was later added in 1993. Visitors will find the Hall of Fame in the Civil Rights District in Birmingham, quite near the Birmingham Civil Rights Museum. Covering more than 2,200 square feet, there are numerous exhibits dedicated to sharing the rich and vibrant Jazz culture with others.
